American scientists detect that the Sun is not round
Scientists American are shortage that the Sun is not a perfect sphere, from the data collected by from the space telescope `Rhessi' of the NASA, according to informed yesterday this agency in an official notice.
Thus, the solar star has developed during years of activity which the experts have defined as “a thin melon skin” that increases significantly its camber: the equatorial radius of the Sun is slightly greater than its polar radius.
“The Sun is the major and smoother object of the Solar System, perfect in levels of the 0.001 percent due to its strong gravity, reason why is not task easy of measuring its exact form”, said the coauthor of the study, the professor of the University of Berkeley Hug the Hudson.
The team of scientists carried out the work analyzing the data of the Reuven Ramaty Solar High-Energy Specstroscopic ('Rhessi'), a space X-ray telescope and gamma sending in 2002 to study the solar blazes.
Although `Rhessi' never was thought to measure the roundness of the Sun, “was ideal for this intention”, commented the NASA. The lens observes the solar disc through one narrow crack and tour a great speed. This and the effectiveness of the telescope at the time of compare data has allowed the investigators to draw up the form of the object with “an allowable error smaller than in any other study”, it assured the space agency.
