Mammoth Cave, in Kentucky, EE.UU., is the cave longer than it is known in the world. Really, although the second and third longer caves of the planet would be united, Mammoth Cave would continue being greater. It is integrated by more than 591 kilometers of passages and every year they are added to several kilometers with the new discoveries and connections.

This cave was well-known by the human beings for about 6000 years. In her have been numerous objects, human rest and momias of native Americans of the pre-Columbian time. But a small part of the archaeological treasures has been only extracted that must contain.

One of the most famous explorers of this cave was William Floyd Collins. Some consider that he was the best explorer of caves than has never existed and thus it is indicated in epitafio of his tablet.

The 30 of January of 1925, while she tried to discover a new entrance to the system of underground caves of Mammoth Cave, Collins was catched in a small passage, to 18 meters below the surface.
