They discover the copper mines of king Salomón

The study of a deposit in Jordan of the time of the Biblical monarch could reveal the location of the mythical mines of king Salomón. Hill to find scientific base to this affirmation since the historical stories of Salomón are removed almost exclusively from the Bible, where few indications demonstrable that can be found they separate the reality of the fiction.

Salomón, famous by its wisdom and good judgment, son of the powerful Israeli sovereign David, appears mentioned so much in the Old Testament as in the Corán, but the tests of their real existence outside the religious writings are little.

Now, a new study published in PNAS by archaeologists of the USA, Europe and Jordan has given back to the Biblical story of the wise king and its mines the coherence that was lost in the last decades.

According to the directors of the work, Thomas Levy, of the University of California, and the Jordanian Mohammad Najjar, of Friendly of Archaeology, the scientists of the Age Sea bream of Biblical archaeology, in the decade of 1930, worked with the spatula in a hand and the Bible in the other, trying to fit the empirical tests to the sacred story.

One of them was the American Nelson Glueck, whom it affirmed to have found the mines of Salomón in the Jordanian district of Faynan, the Biblical reign of Edom, about 50 kilometers to the south of the Dead Sea. As of the decade of 1980, new studies refuted theses of Glueck, when seting out that the industry of the metal did not enter the region until century VII a.C., almost 300 years after the hypothetical reign of Salomón.

Levy and Najjar have excavated in the same zone the copper deposit of Khirbat in-Nahas (copper ruins in Arab), discovering metallurgical devices that they have been radiodatados accurately to centuries IX and X a.C., as well as Egyptian relics that fit with the invasion of the region by Pharaoh Sheshonq I after the death of Salomón. A digital reconstruction has helped to model to the land and its history.

The result, according to Levy, is a confluence between the scientific datas and the Bible. The investigator emphasizes the necessity to make science without religious prejudices, neither to favor nor against, of a dispassionate way, concludes.

With these tests it only is that you yourself form their own opinion of the subject and conclude the truthful thing that can be an affirmation of this type.
