The triangle of the mystery in the Mediterranean

The small barren island of Is Vedrà, located to the southwest of the island of Ibiza, Spain, locks up sinfín of legend and testimonies of mysterious character. Islanders, fishermen and investigators assure to have been present in their environs only comparable sightings and paranormal phenomena to the reported ones in front of the famous Triangle of the Bermuda.

It is Vedrà is, for many of the visitors and inhabitants of Ibiza, the most emblematic and enigmatic place of the island. Their imposing form and singular beauty attract every year a great part of the thousands of tourists who visit the Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Hundreds of them approach every summer the southwest of Ibiza to hardly contemplate from the beach of Cove d'Hort this strange small barren island of 385 meters of height and 60 hectares, without knowing, like many of the inhabitants of the island, that the rock is the legend center numerous.

Apparently some investigators of the phenomena paranormal maintain that the place, that was declared Natural Park in 2002, comprises, next to the Rock of Ifach (in Calpe, Alicante) and the southwestern coast of the island of Majorca (the major of the Balearics), of the call Triangle of Silencio, a zone of characteristics similar to the well-known Triangle of the Bermuda.

Several fishermen have affirmed to have seen pass below their boats strange objects while they sailed by waters near Is Vedrà and to his neighbor It is Vedranell (located a small barren island similar but smaller to few meters of the rocky crag).

And in the same way that Cristóbal Columbus and his crew reported at their time the sighting of strange lights in front of the famous Triangle of the Bermuda, several people assure to have observed strange lights to leave and to enter of the water without being able to grant a rational explanation to them.

Some swimmers, among them the champion of Spain of anti-submarine ship Jose Amengual, great connoisseur of Mediterranean waters, have stated to have felt strange metallic noises of a great intensity in the depths of their waters and salary seen flocks of fish to change of course when listening such sounds.

The theory that exists the mystical small barren island lodges under its waters a base of not identidicados flying objects (UFOS). According to some of psychic and the parapsicólogos ones have visited that it, the enormous mass of stone is an extraordinary storage cell of energy similar to pyramids of Egypt, the famous Stonehenge or the statues of the island of Passover. This has taken to think some people who the objects identified sighted in the neighborhood of the place in the last years did not move until the zone to take advantage their energy or hide-and-seek in their deep waters.

There is one who says that in the uninhabited small barren island, in which as soon as a few vegetal species exist given the high level of salinity of the air, the mineral concentration and metals are so, that the magnetic field surroundings to the island disorients the carrier pigeons and creates interferences in the radars of boats and airplanes.

In this sense, many islanders remember with surprise the call Manises Case, one of the sightings more important ufos of Spain. This it is the case of the journalist and writer native of ibiza Josep Would laugh, one of the top people in charge of the diffusion of the myths that asolan to the mystical small barren island. He would laugh, that worked between years 1973 and 1986 in the Newspaper of Ibiza (the local newspaper of greater diffusion of the island), informed during years to the thousands into island on the legend and the testimonies regarding It is Vedrà. Already retired journalist he comments that it was indeed day 11 of November of 1979 (to 11 p.m. of day 11 of month 11) when an airplane that went from Palma de Mallorca to Tenerife saw forced to realise a forced landing in the Valencian airport of harassed Manises after to have seen for more than eight minutes by right identified a flying object in the very same vertical of the small barren island Is not Vedrà.

Josep Would laugh compares the rock with a stone sentry in charge of the protection of the island from Ibiza to which he belongs and he indicates: `Great person in charge of climate of espiritualidad of zone and of which, little by little, leyenda' grew `on Is Vedrà is the Carmelite father Francisco Palau, who was in that rock like hermit in second half of century XVIII, after being exiled to Ibiza from
Catalonia.

Palau father, founder of the Carmelite monastery of the Misioneras in the locality native of ibiza of Is Cubells and responsible for the recristianización of the island of Ibiza, he related in one of his works some of the numerous experiences and visions that lived in the small barren island between years 1854 and 1860 like sightings of ladies of light and celestial beings.

`Before the Carmelite one arrived at Ibiza, I have not found documentation nor testimony some that allows to affirm me that there was some legend, belief or myth on the small barren island of Is Vedrà, excepting perhaps one `rondalla' of Joan Castelló titled Guasch gegant DES Vedrà, explains Josep Would laugh. But the rondaies eivissenques are traditional stories that mix reality and fiction.

It would laugh also comments how all this series of legend and articles that he was publishing pierced deep in a society that at the same time lived the phenomenon on the hippies in islands whose beaches stepped on the members of Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Bob Marley In a generation that also gave to passage to more romantic other but more mystic, and than it followed the lessons of you lick tibetanos in Sant Llorenc¸, or of gurús of the Transcendental Meditation in Sant Miquel, and whose following step would come represented by new age with all their load from esoterismo, mysticism, heterogenous beliefs, meditations or rituals of wicca in the full moon-lits night in the beach of Cove d'Hort

Nevertheless and in spite of everything, It is Vedrà continues being peculiarly for the majority of the islanders and tourists the place more magician of the island of Ibiza.
