The finding has become thanks to the analysis of a series of images taken by the Scientific Experiment of Images of Hi-res (HiRise) of the Orbitador de Reconocimiento de Marte (MRO), that explores the red planet from 2006.

The director of the scientific research of the program of exploration to Mars of the NASA, Michael Meyer made the announcement in a press conference along with professor Alfred McEwen of the University of Arizona, among others member of the equipment.
