Lady Bluebeard, the assassin in series of Norway

The recent murders happened in Norway on the part of Anders Behring Breivik, have made me track a little in the past this calm Scandinavian country and I have found curiosísimo case of which they called the black widow of Norway, Lady Bluebeard.

The case of Lady Bluebeard, nickname by which it is known Belle Gunness, is a paradigmatic case of black widow. It assassinated two husbands and to 4 tens of men more with those than it was related sentimentally. It attracted them by means of announcements of newspapers.

She was born in Selbu (Norway, 1859), where she lived until 1883. Soon after living in the United States she changed his name, one married with Mads Sorenson and she adopted three children: Jennie, Mirthle and Lucy.

The marriage settled down in Chicago. In 1900 Sorenson died. It was the beginning of his criminal career. Belle acquired 100 dollars of its insurance of life and sold the farm in which the family lived. It mounted a pension that caught fire and acquired the insurance. Another business was shortage. With part of the money of the insurance, it established a pastry shop that also had the bad luck to burn itself

In 1902, Belle emigrated to Indiana and it married with another Norwegian. Peter Gunnes, who passed away to the year to be celebrated the marriage of a blow in the head that was offered when slipping accidentally in a pool. Belle returned to acquire the insurance.

It initiated then his business of attracting pretending with which it did not have any intention to marry and to that it undressed of the goods that took with himself before assassinating them. Belle was cautious: it chose to the men without family, assured by letter each candidate who was the man of his life and he insisted to him to sell his properties and to go to see it with the money to settle down together. It assassinated them to axes blow or poisoning them it broke, them with his axe it buried and them in his property. The first error of Belle went to ransack and to assassinate to Andrew Helgelien, that had a tenacious brother prepared to find the truth, Asle Helgelien. She discovered the truth, but it did not give time him to stop it. The 28 of April of 1908 the house of Belle caught fire. It could not settle down surely that belle died in the fire, although was a corpse of woman and its false teeth, besides the bodies of its three children. Roy Lamphere, lover of Belle and occasional employee in the farm, were declared guilty of the fire. It had set afire the house by jealousy. In the jail that confessed that she was accomplice of Belle, to committed 42 murders.

In lands of the farm, that the police inspected before the insistence of Asle, they found the body dismantled of Andrew Helgelien surrounded in fabric. They found in the same conditions 28 corpses more.
