At night of 28 of 2008 July, to 21h14 local time Indlebe the Radio telescope, located in the campus of Steve Biko of the University of Durban Technology, detected his successfully first source of radio, is located beyond the Solar System.

So that they have an idea of the profit, the energy acquired by a grain of rice fallen to 2 cm of earth because of the gravity is something more than the total energy received by all the radio telescopes of the world in operation from 1960.

The Indlebe project was initiated in 2006 by the Department of Electronic Engineering with the main object to provide to the university and postgraduate investigators of engineering a work of investigation. A secondary target era to provide a vehicle to increase to the awareness and the interest of the students of secondary in the fields of , Engineering and Technology (SETH), to promote the celebration of the Year the International of Astronomy in 2009 (IYA2009).

A remarkable aspect of the project is that all the hardware, of the antenna and feedhorn until the digital analogical converter provides a digital representation of the source detected to a PC, has been designed by the students and constructed in the campus. It is tried that the data received shortly will be available in real time to all the interested people that they will be able to graphically represent the data by means of the software of free disposition.
