It was born in Yablochnoye, the Ukraine, the 16 of October of 1936, lived in a small village in the times of extreme hunger, died million people whose corpses crowded the street. Andrei and its sister were children when a day they listened in the lap of his mother like his older brother, Stepan had been kidnapped and devoured. Its murders

 

The 22 of December of 1978, Andrei killed for the first time. One rushed in the street a girl of nine years it convinced and it so that one went with him to a cabin that it owned in the outskirts of a city. First arrest

 

The Serbsky Institute of Moscow designed the profile of an obviously normal man, probably married, with a regular work. The 14 of September of 1984, stopped to Chikatilo in the market of Rostov, because in main lines it fitted with the description of the assassin, but could not demonstrate nothing else.

 

Chikatilo seemed a man respectable, and after doing an analysis to him of blood, this one turned out to be from group A. Immediately was set free without positions. By those heights, the archives of the police contained data of about 26,500 suspects. When it appeared the corpse number thirty, the newspapers began to in series notify of the possible assassin, who all believed mental delaying, even though that the police did not agree. Later Chikatilo was accused to have robbed a linoleum roll of its office. The police thought that it was the assassin, so they compared the blood of Chikatilo with the semen found in the bodies of the victims and inexplicably it was not the same type of blood. It was sentenced to a year in jail by the robbery of the linoleum, but the judge got along with him she released and it before.

The 17 of October of 1990 returned to kill in a forest near the station of Donlesjoz.

 

Confession and captures

 

This murder absorbed to all the local police and an antiriot force of 100 men. But two weeks later, Andrei returned to act, and this one time the ones in charge to investigate throughout the line of the forests were about 600 detectives, where they mounted guard more three or four officials in the isolated stopping places.

The 6 of November   of 1990, one of these detectives, called sergeant Igor Rybakov, saw appear of the forest a man with suit and necktie. The general prosecutor of the province of Rostov would emit an order of halting against Andrei, effective from the 20 of November of 1990. That same day was retained by the KGB, while this one with slow cadence and senile said “How they can do this to him to a person of my age”. In the interrogations, it affirmed that simply he was a normal citizen, that it had not committed any murder, and who was object of an absurd persecution on the part of the police.

The 27 of November promised that it was arranged to present evidence of his crimes if they did not continue harrasing to him with the interrogations that remembered the details to him, and two days later it collapsed before a psychologist to whom it ended up confessing 53 murders. Later it guided the investigators to the different places with the hope of which the number of turned it to deaths into a “specimen of scientific study”.

A declaration signed for the General prosecutor wrote, who said:

“They stopped the 20 to Me of November of 1990 and I have remained under safekeeping since then. I want to exhibit my feelings sincerely. I am in a state of deep depression, and recognize that I have sexual impulses insane people, for that reason have committed certain acts. Previously I looked for psychiatric aid by my headaches, by the sexual loss of memory, insomnia and upheavals. But the treatments that applied to me or that I put in practice did not give results.
I have wife and two children and I undergo a sexual weakness, impotence. People ***reflxed mng themselves of me because nothing could remember. It did not give account me that often touched the genitals to me, and to only they said it later me. I feel humiliated. People make fun of of me in the work and other situations. I have felt degraded from the childhood, and I have always suffered. At my scholastic time it was swollen because of the hunger and it went dress with rags. Everybody put with me. In the school it studied with as much intensity that sometimes the conscience lost and me desmayaba. I am university graduating. It wanted to demonstrate my was worth in the work and I gave myself him completely. People valued to me but she took advantage my weak character. Now that I am greater, the sexual aspect does not have as much importance for me, my problems are all mental ones”.

 Judgment and execution

For that reason, in October of 1991 they occurred to know his conclusions, diagnosing that the assassin was “legally prudent”. The judgment of Andrei Chikatilo began in April of 1992 and would last until October of that same year. This one, with the shaved head, was present at its judgment from a metal cubicle. The judges did not doubt in announcing the verdict who had name: the 15 of October of 1992 were sentenced to the capital punishment, and executed with a shot in the nape of the neck in the prison of Moscow the 14 of February of 1994.
