Terror in Montes the Urals
In 1959 a group of nine mountain climbers dies of way unknown in Montes the Urals, this is the disquieting history of the great mystery of the old USSR.
At the beginning of February of 1959 the time was good in the zone of the Urals. A ten of students and experience mountain climbers, headed by Igor Dyatlov, of 23 years, was prepared to realise an expedition to the mountainous mountain range. When they undertook the march towards the base of the Otorten mount nobody foretold its fatal destiny. When arriving at the last place of supplying a member of the equipment, Yuri Yudin, became ill suddenly, which forced it to have left to recover there before the impossibility to follow the rate of the rest of the group of students. Paradoxicalally, that one circumstance became for its protagonist a providential event and, at the same time, a nightmare. Discouraged, Yudin took leave of its nine companions. It would be the last time would see that them with life. What it happened to them as of that moment continues being a complete mystery.
According to the basic norms of security, when they arrived at the zone of Vizhai, of return of the mountain, Dyatlov had to send a telegram to the Polytechnical Institute of the Urals, where they studied all the members of the group. The young person calculated that would happen around the 12 of February, but noticed, however, that she could be delayed some days if the time complicaba. For this reason nobody was noticed of its disappearance until past several weeks. It was not until the 20 of February when the families of the hikers gave the alarm voice before the lack of the news of their dear beings. Then a rescue team was mobilized made up of members of the police and the army and by a group of professors and students than today it is the Technical University of the Urals. After several days search, the 26 of February found the last camping that had established the students. Its state did not foretell anything good. The student found who it, Mijail Sharavin, drew a chilling snapshot: the stores totally were cracked from within and covered partially by snow. There was nobody in his interior, but, strangely, the personal objects, even the shelter clothes, remained there. When revealing the photos of the cameras that the young people had left back like dumb witnesses of the happened thing, determined that the group had encamped in that place the 2 of February towards the five of afternoon.
The rescue team also found a set of tracks in line straight that left from the tents. The experts assured that they belonged to a group of eight or nine people, which would demonstrate that all the students practically fled naked. They wore socks and others, a unique boot, but some escaped with the barefoot feet. The tracks sank about 90 cm in the snow and they did not reveal violence signs nor the presence of anybody other people's one to the group. They lead towards a small hill that took to a hoisted mass near, but after 500 ms they disappeared without leaving sign. In the edge of the forest they appeared the bodies without life of two of the missing students: Georgi Krivonischenko, of 24 years, and Yuri Doroshenko, of 21. Their corpses rested solely under a great pine dressed in underclothes and without external signs of violence. Next to them the rest of a bonfire and some destroyed branches of the pine were seen. To few meters, in a clear one of the woods, the bodies of Rustem Slobodin, 22 years, Zina Kolmogorova, 22 years, and Igor Dyatlov, 23 lay. By the position of corpses, it seemed that the young people had tried unfruitfully to arrive at the camping. This horrifying finding caused that an investigation started up. The autopsy that was realised to the five bodies did not throw excellent data: the students had died by hypothermia and they did not present/display external injuries. Only one had a small fracture in the skull that had not been the cause of its death. And it is that, safe by the non-uniform details that the camping presented/displayed and the fact that they left it to the students without clothes, all the happened one entered within the parameters of the apparently logical thing. But still they were to find four of the students. The discovery of its bodies gave a dramatic turn to the events.
To establish the whereabouts of the other hikers cost almost two months. The four were buried under 5 snow ms near a species of small precipice, next to the place where had been the bodies of the other victims. They were Nicholas Thibeaux-Brignollel, of 24 years, Ludmila Dubinina, of 21, Alexander Zolotaryov, of 37, and Alexander Kolevatov, of 25. The skull of Thibeaux practically was destroyed on the inside, and Zolotaryov and Dubinina had several broken ribs. In addition, the girl did not have language. In spite of it, the external injuries that presented/displayed were practically imperceptible. And, on the contrary that the others, were dressed. It seemed as if the last ones in dying were had appropriate of the clothes of those who had passed away first, since the body of Zolotaryov dressed a fur coat and a hat of Dubinina, whereas the feet of this last one were surrounded in the trousers of Krivonischenko. After three months of analysis, the investigation on the case occurred by settled without reaching no conclusion. Without witnesses, without nobody to that to accuse and without substantial tests on the happened thing was most foreseeable. The case was under summary secret and the access to the zone was prohibited where the facts had happened during the three following years. Until the moment few documents have been declassified very on the matter. But, in spite of the efforts of the authorities to silence this horrifying event, the companions and the relatives of the young people they impelled the creation of an organization who has been dedicated to try to unravel the mystery during last the 49 years: the Dyatlov Foundation.
This association took care of the case from its beginnings, trying of verifying the validity each and every one of the hypotheses that have considered to try to reconstruct the facts that happened that one prophetic night. Today his present director continues this task, Yuri Kuntsevich. The first theories blamed of the deaths the tribe who inhabited that one place, mansi, since the possibility that considered the hikers had profaned some sacred place of this town. But this hypothesis was discarded immediately because neither the mountain of Otorten nor Kholat-Syakhl was considered like such by mansi and, in addition, never were tracks of other people in the camping. It is, years more later some forensic Medicine specialists, like doctor Borís Vozrozhdenny, have explained that is impossible that a human being can cause the internal wounds that presented/displayed last the four corpses, that are similar to that they take place at full speed in an accident with a vehicle: externally they are not appraised, but the internal damages are fatal. Discarded the human intervention, the investigators began to locate to the witnesses of the time. In 1990 investigator Iev Ivanov was able to interview to several military and meteorologists whom they related that February enters and March of 1959 “shining spheres” had been descried in the zone.
For Ivanov those shining spheres were the key of the mystery. Between few documents declassified on the case one exists that makes reference to hikers who encamped to about 50 km of distance of the nine deceaseds. The report gathers that at night of the 2 of February they saw “strange luminous spheres of color orange that floated in the sky in the direction of Kholat-Shiyakhy, on mountains of Otorten”. Again the lights were the protagonists in these testimonies, which gave foot to that the investigators speculated with the possibility that one of those spheres had caused that some of the hikers - if all did not decide to follow them and had animated the other they accompanied so that it. Those lights could have brought about an explosion, that would be the cause of the internal injuries that presented/displayed corpses.
For Yudin, the unique survivor, this hypothesis is most reasonable, since she explains the wounds and the strange bronzed tone that presented/displayed corpses when they were found. But, without a doubt, the test that reinforces plus it is the finding of high radiation levels in the clothes that carried corpses. Nevertheless, although the zone was tracked in several occasions, never were tracks or signals of a possible explosion.
MILITARY EXPERIMENT
The excessive secrecy and the armed intervention, as well as the moment in which the events took place they suggest young them were victims of a military experiment, that finished in disaster. It is even possible that launching of a missile was a bankrupt or a rocket, although the space-port of Baikonur (Kazakhstan) does not conserve file some of an initiative of this type. Thus it confirmed Alexander Zeleznyakov, historian specialized in Soviet missiles and civil service stop of the Corporation of Soviet Space Energy. Also, the Ministry of Defense and the Office of Citizen Attention assured that they either did not have certainty of which experiments in the Urals had been carried out that agreed in the dates and the place with the event. In spite of everything, Yuri Yudin maintains his persistence to clarify the case. In his last visit to the zone he managed to discover a strange twisted metal cemetery of unknown origin. Although he creates impossible to prove that a military experiment was realised, nondoubt that the origin of the tragedy was artificial. “There are very strange things in the case. They called when me to identify the personal objects, there were several I was not able to recognize: a fabric piece similar to the one of a military layer, crystal pieces and a pair of complete skis, as well as another party in pieces”, the past indicated in a sharp conference month of February.
THE DYATLOV PASSAGE: QUESTIONS WITHOUT ANSWERS
Under the auspice of the Dyatlov Foundation, the past month of February six independent people who participated in the search of the students and 31 experts met in Ekaterimburgo (Russia) to look for answers on the accident and to interchange data of the investigations realised until the moment. The majority of the investigators agrees in which the military realised tests in the area which they could have been the cause of the death of the nine skiers.
“Still we lack key documents of the investigation, reason why we continued asking for the Ministry of Defense that provides to us with this material to continue our investigations”, the participants declared. The conference was seconded by the Technical University of the Urals, the nongovernmental Dyatlov Foundation and other organizations, that called to the place of the event the Passage of Dyatlov in honor to the students so that their deaths do not fall in the forgetfulness.
WISE PEOPLE WHO
According to documents declassified on the case of the Urals, the investigation abrió between the 6 and the 14 of February of 1959, that is to say, several days before the bodies were discovered officially? According to the unique survivor of this strange event, Yuri Yudin, this are the most convincing test of than the origin of the tragedy was a military experiment.
The next year the fifty anniversary of the tragedy occurred in the Urals mounts will be marked. Many hope that, agreeing with such date and due to the present situation of Russia, a new document declassification takes place that allows to shed more light on this enigmatic case, in that were killed nine students under strange circumstances. So far everything aims at that it had to a military experiment.
