OK, check this out, i got the same footage as this video here, but, instead of an "UFO" I was filming venus low in the horizon from my back yard... the person has to keep moving the camera, because the plant is moving, we are moving. duh....

The brightest star, Sirius, flashes or 'twinkles' in colours somewhat like this especially when low, and can be seen in quite a light sky, but would only have risen around 23:30 in Dundee on 6 Nov. In any case, the changes are as mentioned (allowing for some atmospheric distortion) quite regular, so the phenomenon is clearly artificial.

I used to live 10 miles from Dundee, in St Andrews, so know that right between the two lies the major airbase of RAF Leuchars. While more exotic explanations cannot be disproven, it seems very likely that this is an RAF or USAF aircraft, probably a helicopter, perhaps carrying out an air-sea rescue exercise or a real search. Since the date is known, an enquiry to the local press or directly to the base might prove fruitful.

My years in St Andrews (in part studying Astronomy) taught me that aircraft lights and exhausts can sometimes look and move very oddly, especially at night.

I see this often, about two weeks ago I actually saw two of them simultaneously. The first time (about a year ago) I watched it for about twenty minutes and it seemed to move around the sky in keeping with the other stars. After searching the Internet and finding nothing, I assumed it must be a satellite. The colours are very vivid, as with the object shown in this film, and I very much wanted to observe it through a telescope. Whatever it is, I've seen it dozens of times and is easily visible in the sky amongst the other stars on any given night if one looks hard for the colours.....

If this was filmed towards Monifeith late afternoon then it is probably the helicopter that was hovering there for ages. If not, then who knows. Cheers, Brian
